One of the great things about writing a book or writing in general, is it is so self-reflective. As you are expressing yourself through your words, you’re also learning more about yourself.
Not only do you help others learn through your words if you’re writing a book, for example, but you’re exploring different thoughts, emotions, and ideas. I find this to be very therapeutic. So, whether you have a writer’s block or your words are fully flowing, just go for it! Just express yourself and enjoy the self-reflection aspect of writing.
For me, writing my devotional has helped me dive deeper into The Bible and to really explore different emotions in a more expressive way. I’ve been able to confront past trauma and issues I just kept powering through instead of truly addressing them head on with God. I felt that God was calling me to really confront them. As a result, I’ve been able to seek out help to deal with my past trauma.
I think it takes a lot of courage to truly wrestle and tackle with your emotions, your issues and to seek out help. By help, I mean therapy. Yes, it may seem scary, but it is very helpful. I did a few therapy sessions when I was younger and it helped. Just do your research to find a therapist that works best for you. We all need help and we were not made to do this life alone. Trust me, you will find so much healing and joy when you seek out help.
This is a difficult season, but know that you’re not alone and that God is ALWAYS with you. He is making a way Don’t hold your emotions in, but share them with others: family, friends, even through media outlets like Medium or through social media. Everyone is seeming to gather around each other more in this time and even through social media.
You’re never alone. Whether it is journaling, working out, whatever it is that helps you to destress and release your tension and deep emotions, do it! We’re all in this together and we’re going to come out of this storm stronger than ever! Amen!
Have a blessed day everyone!
Much love,
Busayo
